Thanksgiving Day Ceremony

“We are gathered here in celebration of Thanksgiving to remember all that we are grateful for. We take this time to say thank you to life, love and the abundance we share. We welcome each other to our practice today. Let’s be grateful for this time together and our time to be alone. We welcome the Creator, and the spirit of the ancient master gurus and their holy teachings. We welcome the spirit of gratitude. We welcome all the beings of light and love who wish to be present in this ceremony. We welcome our own divine heart and our highest self. Together we create an essence of light and love and we fill our hearts and minds with all that we are thankful for and send a blessing of thanksgiving to all people on Earth. So people everywhere can feel the vibration of thankfulness wash over them and they feel peace in their grateful hearts.

We have been given the duty to live in balance and harmony with each other and all living things. So now, we bring our minds together as one as we give greetings and thanks to each other as people.

We are all thankful to our Mother, the Earth, for she gives us all that we need for life. She supports our feet as we walk upon her. It gives us joy that she continues to care for us as she has from the beginning of time. To our Mother, the Earth, we send greetings and thanks.

We give thanks to all the Waters of the world for quenching our thirst and providing us with strength. Water is life. We know its power in many forms waterfalls and rain, mists and streams, rivers and oceans. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to the spirit of Water.

We gather our minds together to send greetings and thanks to all the Animal Life in the world. The fish for keeping our waters clean and pure, the birds for their beautiful songs that help remind us each day, to enjoy and appreciate life, to the entire animal kingdom. They have so many things to teach us as people. We are honored by them when they give up their lives so we may use the bodies as food. A special blessing to our pets who give us so much love and comfort.

Now bringing our attention vast fields of Plant life. As far as the eye can see, the Plants grow, working many wonders, food, shelter, medicine and beauty. They sustain many life forms. With our minds gathered together, we give thanks and look forward to seeing Plant life for many generations to come.

We are thankful to the powers we know as the Four Winds. We hear their voices in the moving air as they refresh and purify the air we breathe. They help us to bring the change of seasons. From the four directions they come, bringing us messages and a giving us strength. With one mind, we send our greetings and thanks to the Four Winds.

Now we turn to the west where our Grandfathers, the Thunder Beings, live. With lightening and thundering voices, they bring with them the water that renews life. We bring our minds together as one to send greetings and thanks to our Grandfathers, the Thunderers.

We now send greetings and thanks to our eldest Brother, the Sun. Each day without fail, he travels the sky from east to west, bringing the light of a new day. He is the source of all the fires of life.

We give thanks to our oldest Grandmother, the Moon, who lights the nighttime sky. She is the leader of woman all over the world, and she governs the movement of the ocean tides. By her changing face, we measure time, and it is the Moon who watches over the arrival of children here on Earth.

With one mind we give thanks to the Stars who are spread across the sky like jewelry. We see them in the night, helping the Moon to light the darkness and bringing dew to the gardens and growing things. When we travel at night, they guide us home. With our minds gathered together as one, we send greetings and thanks to the Sun, the Moon and the Stars.

We gather our minds to greet and thank the enlightened Teachers who have come to help throughout the ages. When we forget how to live in harmony, they remind us of the way were instructed to live as people. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to these caring teachers.

And…Now we turn our thoughts to the Creator, the Great Spirit and send greetings and thanks for all the gift s of Creation. Everything we need to live a good life is here on this Mother Earth. For all the love that is around us, we gather our mind together as one and send our choicest words of greetings and thanks to the Creator. Now our minds are one.

Closing:

Thank you all for coming tonight to share a few moments of gratitude and appreciation with me. As we gathered as a collective thought of thankfulness this evening it is my sincere hope that our vibration of peace and love was felt by all life on this beautiful Earth. We say thank you for this opportunity to express our grateful hearts in a powerful and gentle way.
